Maricela Salazar, LCSW

She/Her/Hers

You’ve taken an important step towards your own healing. I view the therapeutic process as a partnership, with you leading the effort. My approach is relational and collaborative, honoring your pace and autonomy in therapy. My knowledge and experience in family systems, trauma, and cognitive behavioral therapy will help you uncover your true potential. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can gain a better understanding about how these situations influence our lives. This understanding allows you to change long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

Given that we are all multi-dimensional beings, I am committed to understanding the ways your individual identities and roles shape your experiences. Every person is unique, and the therapeutic process should reflect that. Cultural responsiveness, gender openness, and being LGBTQIA+ competent are essential for my practice.

“Sometimes “strength” is a riveting moment of toughness, and other times it is a slow journey with your shoulders slouched toward the mountains, where you find that even though you feel so far from home, light is ever-guiding you, in the middle of your unknowns. “ -Morgan Harper Nichols

 What is a therapist?

Therapists are mental health professionals (LPCs, LMFTs, PhDs, LCSWs, etc.) who receive different training and education depending on their area of study. Licensure requirements for each professional are also different.  I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience. I earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in social work. After completing the graduate program, I completed 2000 hours and two years of clinical work under the supervision of a LCSW Supervisor. I then passed the Licensed Clinical Social Work exam.
